Course content
Lecture Topics: 1. Introduction, general and special surgery, surgery. 2. Examination methods in surgery. Fundamentals of anesthesia and analgesia. 3. Basic surgical techniques. Morning injuries, burns. 4. Surgery of head and neck, chest and mammary gland. 5. Surgery of the abdomen. Polytrauma. Injuries in pregnancy. 6. Sudden abdominal events, inflammations. 7. Tumor diseases - operative. Exercise Topics: 1. Surgery sections and equipment. Operating theaters. Preparing a pregnant patient for surgery. 2. Work of PA in the operating room, tasks in the field of preoperative, perioperative and postoperative care of a pregnant woman 3. Care for a pregnant woman with impaired consciousness after injury. 4. Nursing care for a pregnant woman with intestinal obstruction, is obstructed. Nursing care for pregnant woman with cholecystitis. 5. Nursing care for pregnant woman with pancreatitis. 6. Nursing care for pregnant woman with acute appendicitis. 7. Nursing care of pregnant woman after breast surgery.

Learning outcomes
The subject is conceived as theoretical - practical. It is part of a complex of subjects from clinical nursing. Includes all periods of perioperative care, incl. basics of anesthesiology. It acquaints students with acute and chronic conditions that require surgery with emphasis on surgical issues of abdominal cavity and sudden conditions requiring surgical treatment in women during pregnancy and postpartum.
Expertise: The student demonstrates knowledge in the field of surgery, knows types of anesthesia, is able to define the principles of diagnosis and treatment of selected surgical diseases. He knows the symptoms of NPB, knows the specifics of preparation for individual surgical procedures and is able to apply them to care for a woman in pregnancy and in the puerperium. Professional skills: The student is able to prepare a pregnant woman for surgical examination and surgery. The students can identify postoperative complications and know their solutions. General competences: The student is able to provide comprehensive nursing care for a pregnant woman with selected surgical disease. It is focused on the content of work on individual sections of surgery. The student is able to communicate comprehensibly and convincingly to the woman about the nature of professional problems and to propose their solution.
