Topics of lectures: 1. Definition of health, approaches and aspects of health of population and in population groups 2. Determinants of health and causes of diseases 3. Living and working conditions and health 4. Lifestyle and health 5. Evaluation of population health; indicators of the incidence and outcome of diseases and health 6. Infectious diseases and their prevention 7. Non-infectious chronic diseases and their prevention 8. Programs to protect and support the health of the population 9. International documents and cooperation in the field of public health. 10. The role of medical facilities in the protection of public health. 11. Acts on the protection of public health and related legislation Seminar topics 1. Questionnaire - selected problems 2. Intervention program - selected goals 3. WHO health protection and promotion programs 2010-2020 4. Calculation of KVCH risk 5. Incidence and prevalence of selected chronic diseases in the Czech Republic - presentation of development over the last 10 years 6. Learning outcomes
The course focuses on the basic features and areas of public health, population health, scientific and practical (including legislative measures) approaches to its protection and support, on understanding the possible causes of damage to health, but also the factors that affect the level of health and its optimization, and the role of healthcare facilities and healthcare professionals in implementation.
Field knowledge: The student is able to describe and explain various approaches and definitions of population health and the resulting measures for protecting and supporting it. Student understands the importance and impact of the living and working environment and people's way of life on their health, can identify individual determinants of health and their negative and positive impact on health, knows the World Health Organization documents and Czech legislation on health protection and promotion, implementation of society and health prevention of infectious and chronic diseases. Field skills: The student is able to develop an intervention program to influence the health, environment, lifestyle of a selected population group, design and interpret the results of screening, process and interpret statistical data on indicators of the health status of the population and their selected groups and apply the obligations of health facilities in public health.
