Course content
Lecture Topics: 1. Introduction to health law, definition of medical law and its importance, legal regulation of health services and basic legal principles, hierarchy of health legislation 2. Human rights issues and constitutional order, ethical aspects of health care provision and their legal significance, basic rights and duties of health care workers 3. The status, rights and obligations of the patient in the health service delivery system, the legal aspects of the provision of health services and the obligations of providers 4. Basic prerequisites for the profession of health care professional 5. Appropriate expertise (providing lege artis care) 6. Patient autonomy and its limitations in providing health services, protection of personality and privacy in health care, medical documentation 7. Legal aspects of specific health services, legal aspects of control activities in health care and administrative activities in health care, labor law issues 8. Legal liability of health service providers and health professionals, final summary, current legislation and case law in health care Seminar Topics: 1. Basic legal principles in health care and their practical application: determining the basis of the relationship between physician, healthcare worker - patient, milestones, development; the legality of medical interventions and the circumstances excluding the illegality of the actions of health professionals 2. Legal and ethical aspects of providing health services: the principle of patient autonomy and shared decision-making; quality of life and decision-making in marginal life situations; human dignity, ethical and legal principles 3. Informed consent in healthcare and its importance: the concept and meaning of instruction and consent in medicine; consent as a condition of legality of the intervention; 4. Medical documentation and practical application of legal aspects: management and handling of medical documentation; consultation of medical records; archiving and shredding of medical records 5. New legislation on personal data protection, in particular EP / Council Regulation 2016/679 and EP and Council Directive 2016/680 regulating GDPRs and their applications to health 6. Provision of health information: right to health information; mandatory secrecy of health professionals; exceptions, relation to state and other authorities

Learning outcomes
Obtaining a basic overview and orientation in the legal regulations of medical law and related fields related to the organization and provision of health services with an emphasis on practical application of acquired knowledge. Knowledge of the basic legal institutes of medical law, the position of the patient in the system of providing health services, the rights and obligations of patients, as well as the conditions of limiting their application, responsibility relations, can significantly influence the patient's involvement in the decision-making process in the provision of health care, increase the legal literacy of individual actors and thus contribute to improving the quality of health services provided.
Expertise: The student is able to describe the basic rights and obligations of the provider of health services, medical worker and patient, the position of the patient in the system of provision of health services, basic legal aspects of their provision. The student is able to explain the process of decision-making autonomy and its limitation, as well as the process of shared decision-making of the patient in health care. The student can explain the influence of knowledge of basic legal aspects on the process of providing health services, their quality and risk prevention in their provision Professional skills: The student is able to create an internal regulation of the health service provider according to his needs and in accordance with the applicable legislation. The student knows and respects the principles of legal liability of health service providers and prevention of their risks.
