Course content

Lecture Topics: 1st consultation: -communication theory - transaction analysis -verbal communication strategy -communication in stress situations, conflicts and their management, -principles of communication of people with disabilities and seniors. Seminar Topics: 1st consultation: -Verbal and non-verbal communication -principles of healthy communication and communication erors -interview - basic characteristics, division, interview goals, individual and group interview -active listening, interviewing, dialogue, -debate, discussion. 2nd consultation: -assertiveness, practicing assertive behavior -Possibilities of non-verbal communication with individuals with sensory disabilities -self-presentation. Self-study topics: -Communication theory -Anamnestic interview -Technical aids for communication -the principles of self-presentation

Learning outcomes
|
The course is conceived as theoretical - practical. The aim is to acquaint students with communication skills and rhetoric and thus enable the development of workers in the health and social spheres. The starting point is the knowledge of psychology, social communication and rhetoric, which are applied to the specific needs of non-medical healthcare professionals. Through practical training, the student acquires communication skills in simulated stress situations, understands conflict situations and their mastery, then acquires the techniques of spoken word and self-presentation.
Expertise: The student is able to define terms related to verbal and nonverbal communication. He knows the principles of communication with people with disabilities and the elderly. Professional skills: The acquired knowledge can be used by students in communication with patients/clients with disabilities and seniors in health and social facilities. Competences: The student is able to use the acquired elements of communication in direct work with patients/clients and their loved ones. Student is able to adapt the form of transfer of information according to the communication level of a person with disabilities.

Credit: active attendance in discussions. Presentation of the topic and consignment of the seminar work according to instructions of the teacher.
