Topics of lectures: 1. Hygienic requirements for the construction of medical facilities (hereinafter MF) 2. Hygienic requirements for the operation of MF 3. Hygienic requirements for MF environment 4. The process of infection spreading in MF 5. Infections associated with health care and their prevention 6. Preventive and repressive anti-epidemic precautions in MF 7. Disinfection and sterilization, hand hygiene 8. Health protection during handling of chemical substances in MF 9. Learning outcomes
|
The course focuses on the application of knowledge from the fields of microbiology, epidemiology and hygiene, obtained by bachelor and master studies in non-medical fields pursuant conditions of protection and support of health in healthcare facilities and the application of prevention principles in their management.
Expertise: The student is able to describe and explain the principles and fundamental requirements for construction (location, layout, technical support of buildings and premises where health care is provided), environment and operation of health care in terms of creating a health-friendly and health-promoting environment. Student knows the conditions of transmission of infectious agents in medical facilities and relevant preventive measures. Professional skills: The student is able to develop quality management plans in health care in terms of hygiene and epidemiology, develop operating and disinfection rules, internal audit of HE at workplaces of health care, program and implementation of sterilizers and disinfectors, analysis of health care-related infections and preventive control measures.
