Course content
What is environmental education, field history, basic concepts. Environmental Education at primary school. Sustainable Development. Global problems of mankind Environmental issue. The problem of underdevelopment. The demographic problem. Globalization. Ecology as a biological discipline. Ecosystem, its components and stability. Biodiversity. Protection of Nature in the Czech Republic.

Learning outcomes
The aim of the class-work is to familiarize listeners with basics of ecology and environmental science, to offer them needful number of data and information about particular parts of environment and to teach them practically how to use acquired knowledge in the school practise. One part of each seminar is discussion about actual regional or global environmental issues. Students suggest topics for discussion.. The course provides students with the basic orientation within actual environmental issues. The first part focuses on the global problems of mankind, their classification and presents possible ways of resolution. It highlights their interdependence. Second part focuses on local environmental issues. Great emphasis is put on the plurality of opinions. The course also provides students with fundamentals of ecology as a biological discipline. During the course, students present their papers.
After completing the course the student will individually focus on current environmental issues, either know the principles of environmental education in kindergarten. Can explain the need to increase environmental literacy teachers as a way of escalating environmental sensitivity of the child. Can explain the basic principles of sustainable development and the need for their implementation in human life.
