Course content
Speech pathology and therapy in training and education, position of speech pathology and therapy in the system of sciences, importance of LSP and LST; Speech pathology prevention. Influencing natural development of speech, correct pronunciation training; Organisation of the SLP and SLT care in the Czech Republic. Speech therapist, speech therapy assistants, qualifications and personality requirements; Speech ontogenesis - speech development stages; Language levels in children speech ontogenesis; Conditions of correct speech development - reflex circuits of communication stages; Impaired communication ability. Division and classification of communication disorders

Learning outcomes
The aim of the course is to provide students with basic information on speech and language pathology and therapy and methods how it can be applied in teaching; skills of pedagogues and educators at primary and special schools in speech therapy. Attention is paid to speech development conditions, ontogenetic speech development, pathology of speech development (including basic information on communicative skill disorders, their ethiology and symptomatology). The course also comprises practical activities in speech therapy.
Students will be able to apply the theory of speech therapy in practise by being acquainted with the development conditions and pathology of the speech development and its understanding.
