Learning outcomes
In the subject Didactics of mathematics students learn about historical and contemporary views of how to teach mathematics at primary school. Didactics of mathematics is divided into general didactics of mathematics, which is not bound by a specific mathematical content, which is part of the training program Teaching Mathematics I and special didactics of mathematics that is bound to a specific mathematical content, which is part of the training program Teaching Mathematics II. Students learn how to choose a self-learning text and create various types of tasks. Students learn about the work at the small schools, in compensatory classes and ethnic groups of pupils. They are encouraged to overcome communication barriers and solutions unintentionally caused pedagogical situations.
Students can: - To characterize the history of mathematics and its four main stages of its development, including the development of the concept of numbers, basic arithmetic operations and use of abacus, - Use logic elements in conjunction with a native language in teaching mathematics, - Use of set theory, the concept of numeracy, the concept of rational number, concept relations and operations with the creation of mathematical literacy, - Characterize and use of statistics, probability and combinatorics in mathematics curriculum and in their own teaching practice, - Describe and apply basic geometric concepts, binary relations and operations in geometry, measurement of geometric figures and topology in mathematics, - Create and solve word problems and know their theory.
Prerequisites
The subject requires no specific prerequisites.
