Course content
Seminar topics: 1. Vocabulary and its composition; the development of vocabulary; layers in the vocabulary 2. Foreword - its analysis and description, capture in the dictionary. Construction of dictionary password; working with dictionaries. 3. Changes in verbal meaning; the transfer of verbal meanings (metaphor, metonymy); the emergence and development of polysemy. 4. The position of synonymy and antonymy in communication. Hyperonymy, hyponymy, kohyponymy. 5. Expanding vocabulary by creating multistage connections, creating phrases. 6. Expanding vocabulary by extracting from foreign languages. 7. Creating words. Word-making methods and procedures. 8. Words and words. Word-making means. 9. Wordsword analysis. 10. Derivation of autosemantic vocabulary. 11. Composition of autosemantic word types. 12. Abbreviations and shortening of words. 13. Current trends in current vocabulary.

Learning outcomes
The student will acquire the necessary knowledge and skills about the vocabulary system and the relations between the vocabulary units, which can subsequently be applied in teaching the Czech language. The course contains the doctrine of vocabulary in the broadest sense of the word, ie the Czech word formation. The student acquires a comprehensive view of the current lexical and word-forming system of Czech and is oriented to the current development tendencies in it.
Student: Controls basic terminology in the field of lexicology - orientated in contemporary Czech vocabulary - can describe ways of enriching Czech vocabulary - Works with language dictionaries - applies theoretical knowledge from the field of lexicology to its own speech activity                  is able to apply theoretical knowledge from the field of lexicology in the teaching of the Czech language in school practice
