Course content
1. Historical development of the term "health" and "illness" in medicine - Individual health and public health and their determinants. Holistic-interactive model of the health as a fundament for supporting the health at school 2. The Maslow's model of the hierarchy of basic human needs 3. Life style - Negative social phenomena and life style - The role of the teacher at the kindergarten in the primary prevention against negative social phenomena, the role of the personal example 4. Education to health - History of the health education in Bohemia, the components of the health education -- Civilization diseases - Old and new infections 5. Projects of the promotion of the health in the European, national and regional scale with accent on the project "The healthy school" - a version of the project "The healthy kindergarten"-Philosophy of the programme 6. Formal and non formal curriculum of the promotion of the health - RVP PV, area of education "The Child and its body" 7. Social-legal propaedeutic - The most important documents in the area of the human rights and liberties (the Convention on the rights of the child, the Charter of the rights of the hospitalized children, Ten rules how to provide the child with security). 8. The immunity system of the child and hygienic rules at the beginning of the third millennium (physical and mental hygiene, present opinions on the dental care and care for skin and senses of children) 9. Activating methods for introducing the constitution of the human body to the children and for creating the need of the children to motion and hardiness - Teaching through activities and experiencing 10. The issue of healthy nutrition - Components of nutrition - Rational nutrition. Alternative approaches to nutrition and their impact on the organism of children 11. Cooperation of the family and school in the area health education. The role of the teacher at the kindergarten in the work with the children endangered by their social environment (tortured, abused and neglected child) 12. Responsibility of the teacher for the health and security of the entrusted children 13. Coexistence with chronically ill and bodily handicapped citizens, incorporation of the convalescent and handicapped children to the collective of the class 14. Prevention of the accidents in the kindergarten and first aid

Learning outcomes
Teaching is based on the WHO program "Health for the 21st century. Another base is RVP PV. The emphasis is on prevention of chronic non infectious diseases of children and the possibility of eliminating health harmful components of contemporary lifestyle of preschool children. The aim of the course is to introduce students to the principles of healthy living style with emphasis on the role of kindergarten and its possibilities. Student will be able to develop in children a positive attitude to their own health and to promote the health of children in school by providing optimal material environment, psychosocial environment. Student will know the basic principles of a healthy lifestyle, will be able to provide first aid and make the right decisions in critical situations related to the protection of the population.
The student will be able to create positive approach of children towards their health and support the healthy school by creating optimal physical environment, psychosocial environment, including relevant methods and forms of work.
