Course content
1. Introduction. 2. The importance of literacy for the systematic teaching of reading and writing. 3. Child preparedness for teaching the Czech language. Development, elements, content, early literacy. Shaping pregramotnostních skills in kindergarten. Psychological foundations počátečného reading and writing. 4. Necessary prerequisites for successful reading and writing skills. Diagnosis of visual, auditory perception, spatial orientation skills, gross and fine motor skills, laterality, the vocabulary of speech. 5. Overview of methods of improving reading and writing. Information on methods of practicing reading and writing skills at the moment. (Analytic-synthetic method, genetic method, confluent reading, global reading). Familiarization with some textbooks suitable for the different methods of training. 6. Developing visual perception: visual differentiation (distinction of objects, search identical pictures differences in axially different figures). 7. Spatial orientation. Practicing right-left orientation. Orientation in the scheme of his own body and the other person. Sequence. Didactic games. 8. Promotion of auditory perception. Developing phonemic hearing (determining náslovné voices, sounds at the end of words, in the middle of the word). 9. Rhythm (vytleskávání syllables, graphical representation of words and syllables, rhyming). Gymnastics vocal organs. Breathing and phonation exercises. Practical training. Oromotor exercise. 10. Grafomotorika - definition. Graphomotori child development. Prerequisites for skills development activities. . 11. Preparation of a child for writing. Practicing proper sitting and holding a pencil. Types handles. Area, writing utensils. Practical exercises: development of gross and fine motor skills. Exercises for practicing the shoulder joint, arm, fingers, palms, training pinches. Use pískovničky. Use a commercially available material (paper, string, wire, stones, scarves, spices, pasta, etc.). 12. Teaching according to the Montessori method in kindergarten (principles, utilities activities). Good start method. 13. Alternative methods of practicing writing. Using elements of yoga. Practical examples. 14. Evaluation of teaching. credit

Learning outcomes
The aim of the course is to acquire skills for assessing the developmental level of the children, to prepare them for practicing reading and writing skills. Getting the basic knowledge necessary for the child's development in the field of visual, auditory, spatial perception, developing fine and gross motor skills. Gaining knowledge about methodology of developing graphomotoric skills of preschool children. Students also get an overview of current methods for improving reading and writing. Students are well versed in the field. Students manage to apply the acquired knowledge in practice. They can choose the appropriate procedures and know how to choose the appropriate activation exercises for developing abilities needed in preparation for practicing reading and writing skills.
