Learning outcomes
The course deals with advanced research methods in the social sciences. In the introduction, students will get acquainted with the logic of research and the basic parameters of scientific knowledge, so that they will then be able to configure a suitable research design and determine an effective method of data collection. The next part of the course will be devoted to qualitative methods (ethnographic research and biographical methods) and discursive analysis. The second half of the course builds on the basis of quantitative methods, i.e. especially the basics of statistics and mathematics, which are a necessary prerequisite for the implementation of basic statistical methods - especially regression and correlation analysis of data.
The student is able to use professional terminology. The student is familiar with advanced methods of social science research. The student is able to choose an adequate research technique for the analyzed problem. The student is able to apply the selected research techniques to a theoretically or practically defined problem.
Prerequisites
