Course content
1. Introduction to the study, acquaintance with the literature and requirements for completing the course. 2. Basic definition of electoral geography (relation to political geography, demography and other social sciences). 3. Electoral geography of the Czech Republic - parliamentary elections. 4. Electoral geography of the Czech Republic - presidential elections. 5. Electoral geography of the Czech Republic - by-elections. 6. Electoral geography of Ústí nad Labem. 7. Electoral geography in post-communist states - Poland. 8. Electoral geography in post-communist states - Slovakia. 9. Electoral geography of Great Britain, Italy. 10. Electoral geography of Germany, Austria. 11. Electoral geography of Scandinavian countries. 12. Final seminar.

Learning outcomes
The course is devoted to the issue of electoral geography. It presents electoral geography as a scientific field and its relation to other social sciences. It introduces the basic techniques of spatial analysis of elections and theoretical approaches used in electoral geography. It focuses on the presentation of electoral support patterns in elections in the Czech Republic and other European countries.
The student is able to use professional terminology. The student distinguishes individual theoretical approaches used in electoral geography. The student is able to use various techniques of spatial analysis of elections., The student is able to describe the basic distribution of voter support for political parties in the Czech Republic and other European countries.

For successful completion of the course, relevant activity is required during the seminars, oral presentation of the paper and submission of seminar work.
