1. Basic principles of political party research. 2. How to understand novelty? What is a new political party? 3. Summary of the current state of knowledge. 4. Main definition approaches to the study of new political parties. 5. Theoretical concepts of analysis of new political parties. 6. Methodological aspects and problems. 7. Organization of new political parties. 8. Dynamics of development of the Czech party system from the 90s to the present in the context of new political parties. 9. Case studies and their comparisons. 10. Theoretical overlaps - populism, anti-party appeals, parties without members. 11. Current trends and perspectives of further development. 12. End of the course, evaluation, discussion.

The course is devoted to the issue of new political parties and their definition. With its focus, it deepens the knowledge acquired in the course Parties and party systems and combines theoretical interpretation with empirical experience from European party systems, which is viewed in a comparative perspective. There is also a reflection on the current development of Czech political partisanship, both in a separate lesson and during theoretical discussions.
The student is able to use professional terminology. The student distinguishes individual approaches to study new political parties. The student is able to compare different types of new political parties. The student is able to understand the most recent political development. |
