Learning outcomes
|
The course deals with the issue of political ideologies. It is primarily based on what a political ideology is and how it differs, for example, from a political doctrine. Attention is given to three main ideologies, including liberalism, conservatism and socialism. In this context, extreme ideologies such as anarchism, fascism and communism cannot be ignored. New ideological trends such as environmentalism, feminism and multiculturalism will also be presented, taking into account the dynamic developments. In the course, the different ideologies are presented in their own right, but also in the context of their interactions and interpenetration in order to highlight their contemporary role in society and in the process of politics.
The student can use professional terminology. The student is able to master the basic defining features of the term political ideology and can distinguish it from the term political doctrine. In addition, the student will demonstrate knowledge of the characteristics of different political ideologies as well as define their intersectionality. The student will be able to apply individual theoretical insights based on knowledge of political ideologies to contemporary political realities. The student can discuss these phenomena and can compare the different dimensions.
