1. Social movement - basic terms and concepts. 2. Theory of new social movements. 3. Theory of resource mobilization. 4. Models of political activism. 5. Anti-war movement. 6. Ecological movements. 7. LGBTQ + movement and minority rights. 8. Employer and business groups. 9. Historical context of the trade union movement. 10. Unions today. 11. Lobbying in current politics. 12. Final lesson

Learning outcomes
The course is devoted to the issue of social movements. The first part deals with theoretical aspects of social movements, including a historical overview of theories. The second part presents specific forms of contemporary social movements. Social movements in the Czech Republic will also be included. In the last part, attention is paid to interest groups and their influence on politics.
The student is able to use professional terminology. The student distinguishes individual approaches to social movements. The student is able to characterize the specifics of individual theoretical approaches. The student is able to analyse the manifestations of social movements in contemporary politics. The student is able to explain the influence of interest groups on politics.

To successfully complete the course, it is required to submit a seminar paper in the range of 5 to 7 standard pages and a presentation of the prepared paper.
