Learning outcomes

Students will focus on basic concepts related to the analysis of political parties and new political parties. They will understand the basic methodological pitfalls of such research and will be able to define them in the basic outlines. Also, they will acquire basic approaches to measuring and analysing the novelty of political parties. Regarding approaches to the organisation, they will be able to distinguish between the different models that are used in practice. Students will be able to apply this knowledge in selected cases within the dynamics of the development of the Czech party system.

Active participation is expected, which means discussion and interaction within seminars. Besides, the study of the relevant literature is supposed to be explicitly concretised for each thematic block. The course ends with a final written test with closed and open questions.
