Learning outcomes |
The course provides an introduction to the study of civil society and political behaviour (political participation and political representation), which examine the relationship of citizens to politics. The emphasis will be put on the key aspects of civil society both in the Western European area and in the post-communist countries, together with the determinants that affects the more active involvement (political participation) of citizens in public life. The first part of the course will focus on basic theoretical approaches to civil society and political behaviour. The second part of the course introduces students to methods of research of civil society and political behaviour (political participation and political representation).
At the end of the course, students will acquire theoretical knowledge of basic theoretical concepts and approaches explaining the reasons behind different levels of political behavior (political participation and political representation) and the functioning of civil society), as well as practical skills enabling them to study these topics empirically. |
