1) What are the humanities? Various definitions and classifications. What is humanity and humanism 2) What is a university? Definition of the concept. History and the role of universities in Europe and the world. Academic freedom. 3) Methods of study. Methodology and Philosophy of Science. Different types of written work 4) A Brief History of Philosophy and Humanities 5) Philosophy and Humanities in the 20th and 21st century 6) Czech Philosophy and the humanities. 7) The Dispute over the meaning of Czech history in relation to philosophy, history, sociology and political science. 8) Humanities and democracy 9) Humanities and civil society 10) Humanities and Europe, the European Union 11) Current global and cosmopolitan questions of Humanities 12) Humanities and religion, multiculturalism, intercultural dialogue 13) Summary and revision of fundamental points of the Introduction to the Study of Human Sciences

Learning outcomes
|
The target of the course is to become oriented in studies, methods and humanities differentiation, focusing on the history and theory and getting a better hold of the basic types of essays and other forms of study
Student gets a better hold of the idea of history, ambit and field of humanities; has the ability to analyze and interpret texts of humanities, ability to distinguish different humanities and social sciences and their methods, ability to use the ideas and concepts of the humanities in their own oral and written expression.
