1. Development of political system in the Czech lands within Austrian Empire and Austro-Hungarian Empire in 1848 -1918. 2. Political system in Czechoslovakia 1918-1938. 3. Changes in political system of the Second Czechoslovak Republic. 4. Political system in Czech lands in the Protectorate of Bohemia and Moravia. 5. Interim Czechoslovak government -1939 - 1945. 6. Changes in political system during the regime of "people´s democracy" 1945-1948. 7. Basic features of the transformation of political system in the communist regime in Czechoslovakia after 1948. 8. The course will get students acquainted with the development and institutional form of the Czech political system since the second half of the 19th century in the Czech lands, Czechoslovakia and the Czech Republic in the period 1918-1992 and 1993 - up to now. The interpretation also reflects the historical and social context in which the transformation of Czech political system happened during that period. The course will be also focused on international context and interpretation of the development of political system in terms of its formation and development of various ideological movements among the political parties.
Students will acquire the following academic knowledge: - is able to characterize the basic stages in the development of the Czech political system since the second half of the 19th century up to now - can use academic terminology - is able to explain the basic problems of contemporary Czech political system and political partisanship - distinguish the main movements of political thought in the Czech context of the political system development |

Assessment methods and criteria |

Independent work with academic texts and studying of academic Czech and foreign literature will be required. Students will hand in a seminar work in the extent of 5 pages. At the exam, students will be assessed on the basis of an individual interview related to their work. |
