Learning outcomes
Introduction to Religious Studies is a basic religious studies course that will get students of two-field social sciences acquainted with the field of religion, its history, movements, methodology and its themes. Theoretical considerations on the discipline and the subject of its studies (e.g. definition, origin, religion, religiosity, atheism, interreligious relations) strive for document based on specific material. On the contrary, e.g. to theology, it outlines the basic questions of comparative literature, history, religion, phenomenology and hermeneutics and contextual religion. The aim of the course is to get students oriented in the discipline and develop their critical thinking on relevant issues.
Student will acquire the following academic knowledge: - acquire fundamental theoretical basis for the study of religion in terms of humanistic sciences - get acquainted with religious studies concepts, methods and history and principles of academic discipline - understand the religion as a historical phenomenon - know propria of Western and Eastern religions - understand current situation and consequences of the history of religion - understand the current situation of religion, new religious phenomena - can distinguish dangerous sects
