Course content
1. Literature, sources and how to work with them. 2. Citation, footnotes and ethical principles of scientific work. 3. Humanities and social sciences, l sciences - differences and contact surfaces. 4. Comte, Weber and the role of modern science. 5. What and how to meaningfully research? Formulation of research questions. Role of theory and hypothesis formulation. 6. Quantitative and qualitative approaches - the choice of approach. 7. Qualitative research - What, why and how to research? 8. Discourse Analysis and its approaches. 9. Quantitative research - basic questions. 10. Qualitative comparative analysis. 11. Normative political analysis. Do we have a methodology of political philosophy? 12. How to prepare a research project? Thematic blocks, we will recommend putting 13 or 14 topics that will match the range of a single week of the term.

Learning outcomes
Students will get acquainted with the basic methodological skills needed in the theory of science and research preparation. Thus they will acquire the competency needed to study and write their own texts in humanities and social sciences. They will also use it in their studying when writing seminar work, primarily thesis.
Student will gain: - basic knowledge of the principles of scientific work and scientific research - basic skills of research preparation and its implementation - knowledge and skills applicable both during their studies and in practice after their completion.

To obtain a credit: it is required to hand in a short own project research in the extent of 3 pages and pass a final test.
