Course content
-the development and main issues of Somatopedia -CNS disorders - overview - spastic forms, diparetic, hemi paretic and quad paretic development of a child -Infant cerebral palsy - nonspastic forms -other health complications associated with cerebral palsy -The causes of CP, risk factors Rehabilitation and therapy of CP. Mild brain dysfunction. Inflammations and brain tumours, brain trauma. Peripheral palsy, spine palsy. Dystrophy and myopathy of the muscular tissue Defects of the neural canal - spina bifida occulta, meningocela, meningomyelocela, hydrocephalus, microcephalus, anencephalus, and exencephalus. Psychological aspects following disabilities Speech disorders, communication and socialisation of individuals with physical disability and health disadvantage Early care of children with physical or health disability. Specifications of their education. Special diagnostic methods in education for health disabilities and disadvantaged Carrier choice and employment. Institutional care and support of physically disabled and disadvantaged in the Czech Republic. Rehabilitation, compensation tools.

Learning outcomes
The subject focuses on the characteristics, definition, etiology and possible compensation, re-education, rehabilitation of people suffering from variety types of physical disability. The framework of the course students will be introduced to the significance of Somatopedia as a special pedagogy sub discipline. Students are able to characterize and define physical disability, can name several disorders which are most common cause of physical disability. Students are then able to characterize disabilities inborn and gained, name differences in etiology, prognosis and psychological specifications of both types of disability. Students are able to describe the central paresis syndrome, are able to describe cerebral palsy forms and are able to describe their etiology and psychomotor development of an individual with CP and confront it with normal psychomotor development of a human being. Furthermore, students are able to describe other disabilities connected with CP, causes of CP and possible rehabilitation care. Students are able to describe educational outcomes of a physical disability, in detail describe the system, condition and specification of education of individuals with physical disability.
