Course content
Lecture topics: (4 hours/week) 1. Social work as a discipline and as an activity. 2. Social policy of the state. Methods of social work 3. Social work with family, group and community. 4. Social work with socially disadvantaged groups, especially those with disabilities. 5. Specifics of health and social care for paediatric patients.

Learning outcomes
The course is conceived as theoretical. It introduces students to WHO health and social policy and its implementation at the national level of the state, to the system of health and social services. It provides basic information on types and forms of health and social services and conditions of their provision in health care institutions, introduces major health organizations and selected health promotion programs.
Expertise: Students should know the theoretical concepts and methods of individual social work, social work with family, group and community. In addition, the student knows the specifics of health and social care for paediatric patients and understands the position of the health and social worker within a multidisciplinary team. Professional Skills: The student is able to navigate the entities that provide social services within the current legislation. The student is able to distinguish the competences of a social worker in relation to the health profession. General competencies: The student is able to apply theoretical knowledge in natural settings, is able to communicate with the client and with members of the health care team and the team providing social services.
