Course content
Lecture Topics: (2 hours / week) 1. Health, health aspects, health determinants. Health protection and support, disease prevention. 2. Inequalities in health, equality in health, equality in health care provision. 1. International Documents on Health Protection and Promotion, Health 21, Health 2020. 2. Public health - focus, content, components, implementation in practice, legislation. 3. Health education - definition and content, goals, methods and forms of work. Environment and health and preventive measures to protect the health of the population, including the elderly. 4. Epidemiology of infectious and non-infectious diseases. 5. Hygiene. Work hygiene - definition and content, goals, methods and forms of work, health risks in health care and their prevention. 6. Hygiene of the environment. Nutrition hygiene - the field of study, goals, methods and forms of work. Hygiene of medical facilities. Seminar Topics: (2 hours / week) 1. Intervention program focusing on living and working conditions and way of life. 2. Health education - work with a group. Methods of health education. 3. The work of a nurse in the field of anti-epidemic measures. The work of nurses in the field of health education in communities. 4. Evaluation of health risks at work in health care, work categorization, medical preventive examinations. 5. Anti-epidemic measures in practice. Handling of linen and waste in a medical facility. 6. Presentation of seminar works.

Learning outcomes
The subject is conceived as theoretical. It introduces students to the health policy of WHO and its implementation at the level of our state, the types and forms of health services and the conditions of their provision in health care facilities. It includes international classification and health statistics. It provides key information on hygiene and epidemiology in the protection and promotion of public health, on the prevention, spread and reduction of infectious diseases, on diseases that occur in large numbers, on contingencies and other major health disorders. It acquaints students with general epidemiology and epidemiological methods of work, prevention of nosocomial infections, drug addiction.
Expertise: Students will acquire knowledge of the relationship and interaction of the environment and the human body and the resulting negative or positive impacts on their health and measures to protect and promote the health of individual age groups, including the elderly; mastering the basics of environmental hygiene, nutrition hygiene, demonstrating the knowledge of working conditions on the health of workers with a focus on health and preventive measures; he / she has theoretical knowledge of health education, masters methods and forms of work with individuals and communities, masters the basics of epidemiology of infectious and chronic diseases. Professional skills: The student can elaborate a questionnaire to find out the knowledge, attitudes, health condition of patients - clients; can develop an intervention program aimed at eliminating - reducing health risk factors. In primary, secondary and tertiary health education (non-smoking - smoking cessation, healthy eating, physical activity, addiction prevention, participation in preventive examinations, healthy parenting, prevention of sexually transmitted diseases, etc.), they can perform health education in groups and in communities, can cooperate in the implementation of anti-epidemic measures.

Compulsory is active participation in seminars, passing the test (75% success rate), elaboration and presentation of seminar work - an intervention program aimed at protecting and promoting the health of selected population groups.
