Course content
Seminar topics: (2 hours/week) 1. Basic concepts (survey/research, basic/applied research, qualitative/quantitative, experiment/investigation). 2. Types of clinical trials and studies, ethical aspects - informed consent. Ethics of publishing - copyright law, citation standards. 3. Specifics of research in nursing: research strategies, research priorities for the 21st century. 4. Evidence Based Practice and Evidence Based Nursing 5. Qualitative approaches in nursing research. 6. Observation, grounded theory, content analysis. 7. Case study. Publishing and presenting results.

Learning outcomes
The subject is designed as a theoretical-practical one, which assumes the application of knowledge acquired in other nursing and humanitarian subjects as well as a certain level of creativity. It will teach students the basics of critical scientific thinking, understanding the need and importance of a scientific approach in evidence-based nursing practice (Evidence Based Practice and Evidence Based Nursing, hereinafter referred to as EBP and EBN). It will teach them the basic steps of the research process. The aim of the course is primarily to provide students with practical guidance on how to proceed in preparing a bachelor's thesis.
Expertise: Students know the principles of qualitative research and the specifics of research in their field. They are familiar with the principles of statistical analysis. Professional Skills: Students are able to differentiate between qualitative and quantitative methods in nursing research and are able to prepare a research project. General competencies: The student understands the importance of scholarly work to their field and is able to apply the principles of scholarly work appropriately in their field.
