Course content
Lecture Topics: 1st consultation: Definition and features of nursing science. Holistic philosophy of nursing, metaparadigma nursing. Nursing roles, functions, competences Forms and methods of nursing care. Legislative basis for practicing a medical profession. Regulation, self-regulation of the profession. Seminar Topics: 2nd consultation: Classification systems in nursing. Conceptual models and theories of nursing. Humanistic models of nursing. Models of interpersonal relationships in nursing. Self-study: Historical development of nursing in the world. Professionalization of Nursing Mission. National and international professional organizations. Important personalities of Czech and world nursing. Application of NANDA, NIC, NOC classification systems in nursing.

Learning outcomes
The course is designed as a theoretical basis for the study program General Nursing. Systemically defines nursing as a modern scientific discipline with its own philosophy, value system, subject of research, theoretical models, standard terminology, classification systems and methodologies. Learning outcomes of the course unit The aim of the course is to understand nursing as a science, to understand its development, history, the current concept of Czech nursing, education, nursing practice and legislation, so that students understand the relationships of health - illness - nursing - environment.
Expertise: The student demonstrates broad knowledge of the nature of nursing as a science based on holistic philosophy. He is able to describe the relationship between health - illness - nursing and environment. The student demonstrates knowledge in the concept of modern nursing and the concept of nursing in the Czech Republic, its development and legislative bases. Professional skills: Students can use basic nursing models and classification systems in the environment of Czech nursing practice. Student is able to use classification systems in Czech nursing practice.
