Course content
Lecture topics: (2 hours/week) 1. Prevention in dentistry. 2. Nursing care for the client in restorative dentistry. 3. Nursing care in pediatric dentistry. Nursing care of a patient with periodontal disease. 4. Nursing care of a patient with prosthetic replacements. 5. Nursing care of the patient after dental surgery.

Learning outcomes
The subject is designed as a theoretical-practical unit and focuses on the specifics of diseases related to the oral cavity in children of all age groups. It focuses primarily on education in preventive care in outpatient clinics of medical facilities. It introduces students to the peculiarities of assessing the needs of children with this group of problems so that they are able to provide quality nursing care in close cooperation with the child's parents.
Expertise: The student will get a basic overview of diseases of the oral cavity, salivary glands and secondary jaw cavities. He orients himself in the field of anatomy, physiology, diagnostic-therapeutic and nursing process for patients with dental diseases in all age categories. The scope of the teaching is only a framework and is a guide for students to further study the given issue. Professional skills: The student will become familiar with the issues of work in dental clinics and the department of oral, maxillofacial and facial surgery. Students are able to describe examination and imaging methods, assessment of the patient's condition in the perioperative period in pediatric and adult patients, learn the principles of preoperative, interoperative and postoperative care for patients of all age categories, incl. differences, approach with regard to the age category of the patient, they will master specific skills in the ambulatory and inpatient component and the principles of aseptic work methods. General qualifications: The student is able to clearly and convincingly communicate his own professional opinions to experts and the wider public.
