Course content
Exercise topics: 1. Integrated rescue system, crisis management, disaster medicine, legislation. Organization of pre-hospital emergency care. 2. General principles and procedures of first aid, algorithm of urgent resuscitation in adult and child and newborn. 3. Head injury. Unconsciousness. 4. Injury of spine, joints and bones. 5. Injuries to the chest and abdomen. 6. Bleeding. Rival. 7. Effects of heat and cold on the human body. Corrosion. Electric shock. 8. First aid for sudden internal conditions. 9. Dressing technique, treatment of wounds, stopping bleeding. 10. Immobilization techniques. Positions of the injured. Transport. 11. Crass syndrome. Blast syndrome. Poisoning. 12. Drowning. Choking. Anaphylactic shock. Injuries to animals, insects.

Learning outcomes
The subject is conceived as a theoretical and practical part of a group of subjects based on clinical practice. Students will acquire the knowledge, skills and principles for providing lay and pre-medical first aid for acute and health-threatening conditions resulting from an accident or a sudden worsening of the disease. Students are acquainted with clinical conditions that immediately threaten human life, including specific procedures that lead to its rescue. The course also includes knowledge of the legal and organizational issues of first aid, organization of disaster medicine, emergency care and crisis management.
Expertise: Student can - Describe the principles of first aid and urgent pre-hospital care; - Describe the cooperation and tasks of the individual components of the integrated rescue system, - Enumerate and define quantitative and qualitative changes in consciousness, breathing and circulation, depending on the underlying cause; - Name and describe individual life-threatening conditions and sudden events - Define the degree and extent of damage to the body caused by the effect of heat, cold and electric current. Professional skills: Student can - Assess the situation and perform a basic examination of the injured - Check the basic life functions of the injured, - Identify symptoms that indicate a serious health disorder - Recognize the symptoms of various internal injuries - Perform cardiopulmonary resuscitation according to the latest best practices - Dressing technique for wounds and bleeding, - Immobilization techniques in joint and bone injuries - Place the victim in the required position and prepare him for transport, recognize the symptoms of the onset of shock and take anti-shock measures.

Requirements for obtaining the credit will be 80% attendance at seminars, 80% success rate of written test, verification of practical skills.
