Lecture topics: 1. consultation Operation team. Outpatient trauma hall. Acute and planned care. Outpatient surgical care. Indications for surgery. Basic operating techniques. One-day surgery, specifics of care. Basics of anesthesia and analgesia. Intensive care. 2. consultation Perioperative care, postoperative complications. Vital disorders. Shock conditions. Types of wounds. Infection in surgery. Pathogenesis of the course of infection, spread of infection and prevention. Exercise topics: 3. consultation Traumatology, Division of injuries. Trauma ambulance. Fractures. Conservative and surgical treatment. 4. consultation Nursing process in a patient in a shocked state. Nursing process in a patient after an injury. Nursing process in patient with fracture. Self-study: Nursing procedures characteristic of surgical departments / antisepsis, asepsis, sterilization, wound dressings, transfusions, surgical instruments / sterile table preparation. Nursing evaluation of a surgical patient. Identification of current and potential problems. Formulation of nursing diagnoses. Patient admission. Preparation of the patient for surgical examination. Nursing documentation. Nursing process in a patient in the perioperative period.

Learning outcomes
|
The subject is designed as a theoretical-practical unit. It is part of a complex of subjects from clinical nursing. It introduces clinical conditions and diseases in surgical fields in terms of nursing care and needs of patients changed in connection with surgical disease. It characterizes clinical conditions, their etiology, symptoms, diagnosis and treatment in abdominal, thoracic and vascular surgery, cardiosurgery, urology, neurosurgery, orthopedics and traumatology, plastic surgery and burns. The subject includes basics of anesthesiology, geronto-surgery and pediatric surgery.
Expertise: The student demonstrates knowledge in the field of surgery, knows the types of anesthesia, demonstrates knowledge of the principles of diagnosis and treatment of selected surgical diseases. It demonstrates knowledge of basic nursing diagnoses resulting from biopsychosocial needs of patients. It plans appropriate nursing interventions with regard to the set goals of care. Gain skills in the implementation of specific nursing activities. Professional skills: The student can practically prepare the patient for surgical examination, surgery. Can identify postoperative complications and knows their solutions.
