Course content
Seminar topics: (2 hours/week) 1. Organization of the children's nurses' work, nursing unit and its components. 2. Disinfection and sterilization (care of tools, surfaces). 3. Reception, translation and discharge of the sick. 4. Hygienic care. Pressure ulcers. 5. Treatment and examination positions. 6. Care of the dead body. 7. Nutrition of sick children. 8. Emptying of urine and stool. 9. Physiological functions. 10. Physiological functions. 11. Administration of medicines. 12. Basal stimulation. Exercise topics: (2 hours/week) 1. Bed for patients and its preparation, linen, room equipment, signaling, care for the patient/client environment. 2. Barrier nursing care, hospital infections and their prevention. 3. Reception, translation and discharge of the sick (documentation, forms, modern medical documentation systems), visit, types of visits, management of nursing visits, assistance during visits, protection of personal data. 4. Hygienic care (morning and evening toilet, general bath). 5. Hygienic care (washing hair on the bed, bathing the child), handling the patient (from the bed to the bathroom, on the bed), mobilization. 6. Handling of a child patient. Treatment and examination positions. 7. Nutrition and feeding of patients, the system of feeding food in a hospital facility. 8. Urinary emptying, vascularization. 9. Emptying the stool, enema. 10. Measurement of physiological functions. 11. Administration of medicines. Application of injections. 12. Use of elements of basal stimulation in the practice of a pediatric nurse.

Learning outcomes
The subject is designed as a theoretical-practical unit. The content forms the core of the professional skills of pediatric nurses and belongs to the complex of basic professional subjects. Based on theoretical knowledge, they teach nursing techniques and nursing care procedures. Emphasis is placed on adherence to the clinical guidelines in accordance with the latest scientific findings and technological developments. Individual nursing procedures and techniques are taught in accordance with a holistic approach to the child, acceptance of his rights and compliance with the rules of protection and safety at work.
Expertise: Student has the theoretical knowledge to perform practical nursing services in accordance with the competences of a pediatric nurse according to the applicable legislation. Student can describe nursing procedures in individual areas, their meaning, preparation and care of a child patient before, during and after the procedure. The student can describe the negative effects of improperly performed nursing procedures on the child's health. Professional skills: Student practically demonstrates individual nursing procedures. Student demonstrates manual dexterity when performing practical tasks and techniques from the field of dependent, independent and cooperative activities of a pediatric nurse with regard to the individual needs and safety of the pediatric patient. General qualifications: Student is able to practically use individual nursing procedures when working with a child patient in a medical facility.
