Course content
Lecture topics: (3 hours/week). 1. Basic examination procedures in paediatric pneumonology. 2. Acute respiratory diseases. 3. Chronic bronchitis. 2. Bronchial asthma. Cystic fibrosis. TB. 4. Blood diseases. 5. Investigative methods in paediatric cardiology. Heart rhythm disorders. 6. Inflammatory diseases of the heart, 7. Cardiomyopathies. (3 hours/week). 1. Nursing process in the child before and after examination of the respiratory system. 2. Nursing process in a child with respiratory diseases (acute bronchitis, bronchopneumonia). 3. Nursing process in a child with respiratory diseases (chronic bronchitis, bronchial asthma). 4. Nursing process in a child with blood diseases (anemia, thrombocytopenia, coagulopathy). 5. Nursing process in a child before and after cardiovascular examination.. 6. Nursing process in a child with endocarditis. 7. Nursing process in a child with cardiomyopathy.

Learning outcomes
The course is designed as a theoretical and practical unit that forms the basis for the provision of quality nursing care in paediatrics. It provides students with a comprehensive view of the growth and development of the healthy and sick child with respect to the therapeutic and preventive care provided. The student will be able to identify the specific needs of the individual child as related to pathologies, developmental anomalies, and diseases of childhood. The student will be familiar with standard diagnostic procedures and tests for each clinical condition. The student will be able to recognize basic pathologies from the beginning of childhood so as to be able to plan and implement effective nursing care.
Expertise: The student is able to distinguish and list the individual developmental periods of the child's year, is able to justify the anatomical and physiological peculiarities of the child's organism, is able to describe in more detail the difference in the diet of children in the individual developmental stages, is able to evaluate the child's condition using various assessment scales appropriate for the child in relation to child's age, is able to list the principles and complications associated with individual procedures and interventions that the student applies in practice. Professional Skills: The student will be able to assess the overall condition of the child relative to its age, select and work with appropriate scaling techniques and methodology for the child given his/her age and clinical condition. The student is able to carry out the nursing process in its individual phases, taking into account the age stage of the child and his/her individual peculiarities, and is able to choose the correct procedure. General competences: The student is able to apply theoretical knowledge and skills in natural conditions, is able to communicate with the client and with members of the health care team.
