Course content
Lecture topics: 1. Introduction to the subject, monitoring of patients in intensive care, instrumentation, scoring systems 2. Ensuring airways, respiratory insufficiency and breathing support, specifics anesthesia care 3. Sepsis, septic shock, interpretation of laboratory findings, examination of acid-base balance 4. Specifics of nutrition in intensive care, organ donor care 5. Applied pharmacology in intensive care, pain treatment 6. Model situations, risks and the most frequent errors in intensive care (simulation) Exercise topics: 1. Specifics of monitoring and scoring in intensive care 2. Specifics of patient care with secured airways 3. Specifics of nursing care for a patient with invasive inputs 4. The nurse's role in the care of a potential organ donor 5. Specifics of nutrition in intensive care 6. Simulation teaching ? training of sudden conditions in intensive care

Learning outcomes
The subject is designed as theoretical and practical. The content of the subject forms the core of the professional skills of general nurses with a focus on the specifics of nursing care for patients in intensive care. The student will have the theoretical knowledge to perform dependent and independent activities nurses, on the basis of which he will be able to perform services in accordance with applicable legislation and competencies for general nurses. Individual nursing procedures and techniques are taught with with regard to the specifics of providing nursing care in intensive care in accordance with the principles nursing process. The subject is taught in the form of lectures and character seminars workshop with a highly practical orientation and practical outputs of graduates of this subject. Expertise: The student is familiar with the issue of providing nursing care in intensive and resuscitation care. The student knows the specific needs of intensive care patients. He knows the basics monitoring invasive and non-invasive procedures in intensive care. Professional skills: The student can provide basic nursing care to patients in intensive care units. Can measure physiological functions of patients in intensive care. The student can care in a range of their competences for a patient in intensive care. General qualifications: The student is able to perform nursing activities in accordance with Decree No. 55/2011Coll., which determines the activities of health workers and other professionals in the department intensive care

Assessment methods and criteria

Credit: active participation in lectures and exercises, 100% participation in the simulation (1 day) Exam: 2 attempts in writing in the form of a multiple-choice test, the number of points is at least 70%, 3rd attempt will be oral in the form of an interview for the previous test, the examiner reserves the right to ask supplementary question (questions will be published before the start of the course)
