Lecture topics: 1. Introduction to management, health policy, current trends in health care. 2. Health care providers, medical institutions. 3. Management levels. 4. Personality and role of manager in organization / typology, characteristics, authority, characteristics of successful manager /. 5. Managerial activities / Planning and organizing in medical facilities /. 6. Leadership styles, manager's responsibility, health care team. 7. Public Relations as the main tool of communication of medical facilities. 8. The decision-making process in a healthcare facility, the process of control in healthcare. 9. Quality management, processes and principles. 10. Quality management concepts, quality management models in health care, ISO, SAK, EFQM, JCIA. 11. Standardization. 12. Internal audit, external audit. Seminar topics: 1. Strategic management, strategic analysis / SWOT, PEST /, BSC. 2. Specific examples of leadership style and motivation of people in health care. Team roles in health care. 3. Managerial communication - Presentation of results. 4. Preparation of quality management system implementation. Audit planning, quality indicators.

Learning outcomes

This subject is focused on acquiring basic theoretical knowledge concerning management with regard to the possibility of application in health care. The aim of the course is to teach basic managerial methods and techniques of decision making in management, organization and leadership.
Expertise: The student demonstrates knowledge in terms of management, personality of manager, characteristics of organizational culture and is well informed in techniques used eg for organizational structure change. It demonstrates knowledge of managerial roles at individual management levels and is able to determine the prevailing type of management and managerial activities. The student knows the techniques used in problem solving and managerial decision making. The student knows the basic characteristics of the management cycle and managerial roles and processes. Professional skills: The student is able to choose a suitable organizational structure in relation to a certain type of institution and to occupy individual positions with suitable staff. He / she can identify existing organizational culture and actively participate in influencing and eventual change. In the area of human resources, they can describe the basic principles of leadership, including the adaptation process of employees, can create job descriptions with a focus on ensuring the care of individual non-medical healthcare workers in relation to legal standards. He is able to write down the shift plan.
