Course content
Seminar topics: (2 hours/week) 1. Quality management, processes and principles. 2. Strategic management, strategic analysis /SWOT, PEST/, BSC. 3. Quality management concepts, quality management models in healthcare, ISO, SAK, EFQM, JCIA. 4. Standardization. Internal audit, external audit. 5. Preparation of quality management system implementation. Audit planning, quality indicators.

Learning outcomes
It introduces students to the basics of quality management of health services and the possibility of ensuring patient safety in health and social care providers.
Expertise: The student demonstrates knowledge of the concepts of quality management and strategic management. Demonstrates knowledge of quality management models, standardization and patient safety. The student is familiar with techniques used in implementing quality management systems in practice, including the methodology for setting quality indicators. Professional Skills: The student is able to select the correct method for implementing a quality management system, identify the current organizational culture and actively participate in influencing and possibly changing it within the QMS. In the area of standardisation, the student can describe the basic principles of standards development, lead teams and plan quality audits, focusing on the provision of care by individual non-medical health professionals in relation to legal standards. The student is able to plan audits, set up an audit team and quality indicators. General competencies: After completing the lecture and practicum block, the student is able to determine the vision of the institution and design a strategy. The student is able to select an appropriate technique for solving problems and, based on that technique, find the cause of the problem and propose a solution to a challenging situation.
