Framework scope of practice: The aim is to involve the student in the work of the medical team, to consolidate knowledge and skills acquired during theoretical education, to extend practical knowledge and independence, incl. organization of work during the provision of nursing care. Students will get acquainted with the structure of services of individual medical facilities and with their specialized departments. They will learn to evaluate and satisfy the basic needs of the patient in the environment (material and personnel), which corresponds to the needs of the individual, will improve in assessing the individual health condition and needs of clients in terms of nursing care. A general nurse can perform, without expert supervision, on the basis of a doctor's or dentist's indication of preventive, diagnostic, therapeutic, rehabilitation, urgent, palliative and dispensary care activities. In doing so, it prepares patients for diagnostic and therapeutic procedures and performs or assists or provides nursing care during and after these procedures based on the indication of a doctor or dentist; in particular, it may: - to establish a nursing care plan for a patient with a certain medical diagnosis, - introduce peripheral venous catheters to patients older than 3 years - medicinal products other than radiopharmaceuticals, unless they are intravenous injections or infusions in children under 3 years of age, unless otherwise specified. - to introduce and maintain inhalation and oxygen therapy, to administer medications to the respiratory tract, - carry out screening, screening and dispensary examinations, collect blood and other biological material, and assess whether the results are physiological; in the case of physiological results, it may schedule a further check, - apply drugs per os, skin, rectum, conjunctival sac, s.c., i.m. - recommend the use of appropriate medical devices for the care of stoma, chronic wounds or incontinence, - recommend appropriate compensatory medical devices to ensure mobility and self-service in the home environment - assist in dressing, - educate patients - perform rehabilitation treatment, in particular, positioning, seating, basic passive, breathing and fitness exercises, mobility and relocation training, self-care training to increase patient self-sufficiency and exercise, related rehabilitation and swallowing, rehabilitation exercises in collaboration with a physiotherapist, occupational therapist and speech therapist.

Learning outcomes
|
Individual practice is carried out by health service providers in inpatient health care facilities, at clinical workplaces of internal and surgical disciplines according to an overview of individual clinical workplaces. Students will learn the specifics and organization of work in these departments, work with medical documentation and providing nursing care through the nursing process. Based on the fulfillment of the general nurse's profession, the number of hours of professional experience may be reduced for students / Decree No. 39/2005 Sb., they practice the profession of nurse.
Expertise: The student demonstrates knowledge of nursing procedures and the theory of nursing, which can be applied in practice through nursing plans and nursing interventions. Professional skills: The student is able to implement nursing care by the nursing process method, is able to work with medical documentation and is a valid member of the medical team.
