Course content
Lecture topics: 1st consultation: Legal framework of health services - provider, payer, regulator, insured. Methods of reimbursement of health care in the Czech Republic (primary care, secondary and tertiary care). Public and private resources in health care financing in the Czech Republic. Legal forms of health care facilities in terms of financial management. Sources of financing of health care facilities in the Czech Republic. Income and expenditure of health care facilities, Public procurement in health care facilities. Self-study: Financial management in health care facilities. Overview of payment systems by service segments.

Learning outcomes
The subject acquaints students with the system of multi-source financing of health care facilities in the Czech Republic. At the end of the course students should understand the financing of medical facilities and will be acquainted with basic methods of economic evaluation of medical facilities. The course also acquaints students with the current reimbursement system, including legislative barriers and historical context, will be presented illustrative management of the production of medical and preventive care in a healthcare facility.
Expertise: The student demonstrates knowledge in basic models of financing healthcare facilities in the Czech Republic and in the EU, is well versed in the system of reimbursement according to segments of provided care, demonstrates knowledge of financial flows in healthcare with a focus on public and private resources. Professional skills: The student knows the methods of reimbursement of health care in the Czech Republic within primary, secondary and tertiary care and is able to use them in practice.
