Course content
1. Introduction to Modern Harmony 2. Phrygian and Lydian chord. 3. Altered chords 4. Work with the altered chords 5. Chromatic Mediants 6. Quart chords 7. Harmonic material of 20th century music 8. Concentrated chords and chord combinations 9. Chords with free interval construction, dissonant chord characterization, systematics of modern chords 10. Tonality in harmony of the 20th century, harmonic functions. 11. Modality in modern harmony modes of limited transpositions and their use 12. Seriality, use of twelve-tone rows in harmony 13. Analytical work in modern harmony

Learning outcomes
The course deals mainly with the harmony of the 20th century. Course deals with topics chosen in teaching plan.
Students will be completing the course to control the terminology of modern harmony, will be able to analyze harmonic page playlists 20th and 21st century, including the principles of its organization (tonality, modality, seriality).

Assessment methods and criteria

The condition for obtaining credit is a successful writing of written work, and activity in seminars-listening analysis, solving harmonic problems. Credit is also subject to the 70% attendance.
