The Northwest of Bohemia is one of the places in which the genesis of archeology of prehistory and protohistory as a scientific discipline began, the discipline defining itself as a one opposing previous collectors´or antiquarian approach. In this part of Bohemia there are many significant archaeological sites, which are important in the national or possibly Central European scale. Apart from presentation of prehistoric development and its stages the course aims to introduce students to the importance of settlement in North-western Bohemia. It looks at history of their archaeological research as well as the significance of individual discoveries for getting information about the way of life in the past. The course also involves an outline of the very recent research methods used in the discipline and an outline of the methodology for presentation of archeological cultural heritage to various subjects etc.
