Their transformation as special scientific disciplines in connection with the development of enlightenment science in wider context of Europe. Institutional anchoring of auxiliary historic sciences from the end of the 18th century as disciplines of research and teaching. Issue of categorization of historical sources from the 18th century, important personalities in the theory of historical sciences. 2.-3. Sources and development of diplomatics as a science of official documents, their inner and outer critique with equal accent to Medieval and Modern Age sources. Typology of official documents, the state of their research and editions. Diplomatics of digital documents. 4. Sources, development and methodology of palaeography of the so called Latin circle, development of scripts from its beginning till the 20th century, use of certain types of script in print and in computer hardware, relationship of palaeography to graphology and grammatology, etc.) 5. Sources, development and methodology of sphragistics, the state of seal research in our countries for Middle Age in relation to the development of documents. Possibilities of modern use of sphragistics. 6. Sources, development and methodology of historical chronology, again in connection to development of official documents. Ways of dating official documents from Middle Age until today. 7. Written material of the documents in historical genesis. Sources and methodology of epigraphy, register works that document the Middle Age and early Modern Age inscriptions in Europe and in the Czech Republic (special is campanology) 9.-10. Learning outcomes
|
The course introduces students into the basic auxiliary historic sciences. The course is divided into blocks which reflect each auxiliary historic science, their development, method and basic sources, tools and scientific literature.
In the course of Auxiliary Historic Sciences the student will get a basic notion of methodological and methodical problems and other auxiliary historic sciences as basis for critical work, mainly with written and complementary sources. After finishing the course the student must know the methodology of work and sources suitable for the study of filigranology, epigraphy, codicology, genealogy, heraldry, phaleristic, vexillology and historical metrology. He also has to know about applicability of these disciplines in the present day work (e.g. creating and use of city and district symbols, creating and application of orders, basic legislative rules and protection of certain information, unification of measurement systems, etc.).
