1. Cross-section through the world history of collecting, museums and galleries 2. The rulers and the nobility as art collectors and donors in Bohemia and Moravia 3. History of museums, galleries and relics of folk culture in Bohemia and Moravia 4. History of making accessible the historical monuments (castles, chateaux, Church and technical monuments) in Bohemia and Moravia 5. Museums, galleries and monuments of folk culture in the Czech Republic at present (their founders, their operation and legislature) 6. Historical monuments opened up to public (castles, chateaux, sacral and technical monuments) in the Czech Republic at present (their founders, their operation and legislature) 7. The past and the present creation of museum and gallery permanent, long- and short-term exhibitions 8. Learning outcomes
|
The aim of the subject is to provide its graduates a concrete idea of the historical retrospective as well as the topical trends in the area of presenting cultural heritage. In the framework of the particular subjects, students are gradually informed about the developments and mainly the contemporary trends in care of historical monuments and museum exhibitions and conservation. They are introduced to the practice of installation and recording, operational customs concerning the individual types of objects, the basics of marketing, creative pedagogy etc. The education is realized via external co-operators from the ranks of the National Heritage Institute. It has a form of presentation education and, in part, in the form of presenting practical examples in the field. The subject circles, broke down to a number of lessons, are the following: Museums of folk culture, castles, chateaux, monasteries/convents, galleries, exhibition and installation practice, educational tours, promotion.
The graduates receive clear idea about the role and functioning as well as commonplace operation of the individual types of institutions and objects. They become familiar with the management structure, sources of financing and the working contents of particular professional positions in the framework of concrete types of facilities. They are able to actively participate in exhibition activities and developing new permanent collections, either as external professional co-operators or directly as employees of historical monuments/objects or galleries. They have precise idea about the possibilities of their eventual future fulfilment in some type of these institutions.

Prerequisites

1. Graduation from the subject is not conditioned by previous mastering of another discipline. 2. The students are expected to have general overview at least in the framework of secondary-school curricula in the field of history.
