Course content
Teaching of the course in full-time form includes the following topics on a weekly basis: 1. Use of IT in the historical field 2. Issues and scope of digitization of historical sources 3. Possibilities of using IT in school history (examples of projects, history software, test software, copyright law) 4.-5. Genealogical programs as a specific type of "history software" 6. - 8. Creating an electronic presentation in history (meaning and purpose of presentation, elements, resources, principles, types of presentation) 9. Internet presentation (the topic of history on the Internet, the basics and possibilities of creating a web presentation) 10. Image material on the Internet (web galleries, virtual tour of a gallery or museum, etc.) 11 - 12 Editing digital image, audio and video material (resources, audio editing programs, practical editing) 13. "History in spreadsheets" (use of database, MS Excel type programs) 14. Presentation of students' final works

Learning outcomes
The IT Fundamentals course focuses on those IT topics that can benefit the professional historian or history teacher. A wide range of programs that can be used in the historical field (genealogical software, audio editors, video editors, etc.) will be presented, while the spectrum of software resources will focus on freeware programs. Another important area is oriented especially towards the future history teacher - we will introduce the procedures of electronic presentation (basic presentation programs, simple web presentations). The last main area is the work with database programs (the basic tool here will be a spreadsheet).
Student after completing the course: - has a basic overview of how to use the resources of the world of information technology in the field of history and educational practices in the field - has an idea of the scope and importance of digitisation of source material - is able to create various types of electronic presentations based on respect for formal, pedagogical, psychological and professional requirements for their representation - can make appropriate use of selected software tools for editing historical audio material (testimony of a witness) - prepare a genealogical chart using one of the genealogical programmes; - create a simple, useful and clear database based on a selected historical source of a statistical nature

Completion of continuously assigned tasks: (1) review selected activities on IT issues and history; (2) create a genealogical chart in the selected program (3) creating a presentation; (4) editing of audio material /memorial testimony/. (5) creation of an effective database based on the analysis of statistical source material)
