Learning outcomes
This lecture attempts to unravel the thought world of the Frankish political elites and ruling dynasties at the end of the Merovingian era during the time of the Carlovian monarchs. It focuses on two sets of issues: the formation of dynastic consciousness and the formation of the early medieval aristocracy and its political traditions and stereotypes, with implications for the interaction and processes and culture of political decision-making. The lecture is based on the analytical analysis and interpretation of selected texts of narrative as well as normative nature.
Using concrete material, the student will consolidate the basic methodological principles of working with sources, deepen his/her competence in the individual techniques of the historian's work, gain a more detailed and deeper knowledge of the problem under study, and be able to evaluate more accurately the nature of the political processes under study.

They are not required beyond the general prerequisites for study.
