The teaching of the course in the combined form includes the following topics in individual teaching blocks: 1. Historiography at the turn of the 19th and 20th centuries; positivism and historicism; Historiography and sociology; historical sociology; 2. The origins of the Annales school; The concept of Long Duration, Braudel's concept of total history, historical geography 3. Generations of the Annales School; History of the everyday life; 4. Microhistory; Historical anthropology; Cultural history.

The aim of the course is to acquaint the students with the historical development of the field of Christian iconography and with the fundamental areas of iconographic topics, both theoretical and applied. The emphasis is on the Czech and Central European environment. The topics are chosen so that the knowledge and skills can be actually used in future practice. Practical introduction to a wide range of iconographic handbooks and lexicons is also part of the teaching.
The graduate of the course is oriented in the problems of modern historiography. The student understands its origins and perceives its institutional anchorage. He or she understands the importance of the journal and the Annales school and its first generation. Knows the names of important pre-war historians from the Netherlands, Belgium, Germany, Russia and America. Understands the problems of quantitative history and knows the representatives of this movement. He is well acquainted with the so-called third generation of the Annales school. Understands the influence of foreign historians on modern Czech history. |

In the lectures, it is necessary to absorb the basic aspects of the subject matter, and in the exercises it is necessary to meet the attendance requirements. The subsequent examination is primarily written with the possibility of adjusting the final grade in the oral part of the examination. |
