Theatres in Prague in the sixties of the last century have been an unbeaten phenomenon till today that has been enthusiastically reminisced by its witnesses. The aim of the course is to acquaint students with the most significant theatres of that period and the most important artists (actors, directors, playwrights, script editors, etc.). We will analyse the most famous plays and reflect on the period political context. The big miracle of the sixties ended with the Soviet occupation in August 1968 and subsequent normalization. Basic assessment of these facts is involved in the seminar.
Students are better informed about the problems of Czechoslovak postwar cultural history.
