Course content
Topics of the lectures: 1. Introduction into the topic - regional history in the frame of historical sciences, regionalistics and national history. 2. Regional history and problematics of natural surrounding - possibilities of study, sources 3. Possible statements of material sources 4. Regional national history museums 5. Regional galleries, ethnological, archaeological and historical open-air folk museums 6. Immovable monuments, preservation and its organization (stress is put on regional issues) 7. Written sources in regional historical work 8. Archives and their organization 9. Historical maps and study of land registry in regional historical work 10. Memory books and chronicles in regional historical work 11. Oral histories in the regional historical work, basic rules in processing personal statements of the contemporaries 12. Czech-German historiography until 1918 13. Czech-German historiography until 1938 14. Sudeten German and German historiography of the Czech history after WWII

Learning outcomes
The main goal of the subject is to make a deeper meeting with regional history as an integral part of historical sciences. We pay attention to specific sources which can be used for the study of regional history, we present types of regional historical workplaces. As the development of historical work in border areas of Czech countries is distinctive, we also take into considetarion the basic overview of Czech-German or Sudeten German historiography.
The students will get the basic overview of the problematic of regional history which they can use in future in their own regional historical work.
