Course content
|
Fourteen three-hour lessons focused on reading and independent working with texts of varied diplomatic provenance, written in Neo-Gothic cursive hand of medium and higher level of difficulty, dating to the period between the 16th and 20th centuries. Students can also co-decide about the selection of texts discussed during the seminars. The level of difficulty gradually increases depending on the students? progress.

Learning outcomes

The graduates acquire knowledge of the weight of both minuscule and majuscule Neo-Gothic letters and are able to reliably and safely read medium-difficult texts written in Neo-Gothic cursive hand.

Assessment methods and criteria

Students are required to be familiar with modern palaeography and have solid knowledge of the basics of German language. Graduation from the admission test: transcription of a medium-difficulty German text written in Neo-Gothic cursive hand and proving the knowledge of the development of Latin palaeography from its beginnings to the present.
