Subject circles of the individual lectures: 1. The beginnings of diplomacy studies, diplomatics in the Czech lands from the late 18th century to the present, the basic editions 2. Terminology, the beginnings of the diplomatic written documents on the territory of the Bohemian state 3. The offices of Bohemian rulers to 1419 4. Public notaries, Church diplomatics to the early 16th century 5. Land and court registers in Bohemia, Moravia and Silesia 6. City diplomatic documents related to the early 16th century 7. The offices of Bohemian kings between 1419 and 1526 8. Diplomatics of the modern times (16th?19th centuries) 9. Royal and other central and land offices of the Bohemian state between 1526 and 1848 I 10. Royal and other central and land offices of the Bohemian state between 1526 and 1848 II 11. Learning outcomes
The aim of the subject is to broaden students? elementary knowledge of diplomatics as crucial auxiliary historical discipline. The course is divided into blocks, each of which systematically focuses on the individual fields of researching written diplomatic documents.
The graduates broaden their knowledge of medieval and modern-time diplomatic terminology, of the development of the Bohemian diplomatic studies, of the characteristic features of the diplomatic documents issued by the central offices of the Bohemian state as well as by public notaries and also of the diplomatic documents of the city, noble and Church provenance. They become closely familiar with the documents of diplomatic editions and literature and can identify, describe and analyse diplomatic written documents.
Prerequisites
Orientace v pomocných vědách historických, českých dějinách, a dějinách správy do roku 1848; schopnost čtení gotického písma a novogotické kurzívy; zvládnutí základů latiny, schopnost překládat a chápat německé texty diplomatické povahy.
