Sources for understanding material culture in the early modern period, research methods. 9. The birth of the Renaissance nobility 10. The royal court at the beginning of the early modern period 11. Changes in the lifestyle of townspeople in the early modern period 12. The life cycle of early modern man 13. Gender aspects of material culture research 14. Final lesson - evaluation

Learning outcomes
|
The aim of the course is to familiarize students with research issues in the field of material culture history of the Middle Ages and early modern period. With basic research goals, topics, approaches, and institutions that deal with the subject. Attention will be paid to various types of sources, both primary and secondary, and how they can be used for historical knowledge in this field, as well as to key topics, terminology, comparison of different approaches, and their necessary synthesis.
Students acquire knowledge (terms and facts), are able to classify and categorise it, and remember it. They are able to understand and interpret the written and iconographic sources presented in this sense. They are able to understand the theories and concepts of the study of material culture in the context of cultural history. They are able to search, classify and collate information on material culture in the Middle Ages and the Early Modern period, and know the basic recommended literature, which they read and understand.

The ability to work with text, a basic oveview of the development of history in the Middle Ages and the Early Modern period.

Assessment methods and criteria
|
