The aim of the course is to familiarize students with specialized terminology of building history necessary for describing the situation of historical buildings, description of the mass and expression of the building, its facades, layout, communication scheme, equipment and structures. Emphasis is placed on the acquisition of the specific terminology of historic structures, details and assemblies, which is different from the conventional terminology of the construction and engineering industries on the basis of cultural and artistic development. The course also includes the introduction and acquisition of the specific mechanism of creating a professional description of historic buildings, the form of which is anchored in the practice of the current conservation authorities, and an introduction to the basic types of surveys and research used in construction history.
The student is familiar with the terminology of historical buildings. The student is able to identify materials or structures and describe and interpret finding situations. |
